Discipline Priest Gear and BIS in Shadowlands
Gear is one of the most important elements in WoW to strengthen your Discipline Priest, providing massive amounts of stats as well as armor, procs, and set bonuses.
In this guide, we will explain how to obtain the best gear for your Discipline Priest in Shadowlands and how to check if a piece is BiS, an upgrade or just bad. This guide will help you select the best pieces of gear from Dungeons and Raids in Shadowlands, whether they be weapons, trinkets, or armor.

What is the BIS Discipline Priest gear?
With many different sources of gearing and loot scarcity in Shadowlands, targeting your absolute Best in Slot gear isn't entirely realistic; instead, we've created a Best in Slot list from the ideal Discipline Priest raid drops found in Shadowlands, from Mythic Dungeons, to help you decide what to prioritize.
Disc Priest will primarily focus on maximizing item level in most gear slots, with rings and trinkets. For example, a low-level Crit/Haste ring (desirable Disc stats) can be replaced by a significantly higher item level Vers/Masteryring, especially if it also has a socket.
In this list there are a lot of non-haste items described here. This is because World Boss loot will be about 23 item levels HIGHER than Mythic 0 quality loot. When Mythic+ comes out, you'll more easily be able to focus on dungeon loot to fill out some missing slots.

Trinkets
When playing with Spirit Shell your goal is to have one on-use, ideally Sinful Gladiator's Badge of Ferocity to align with the 1 minute cooldown of Spirit Shell. There are many dungeons with on-use affects ranging from 1.5 min to 3 minutes that can also be useful if you prefer not to pvp. After getting one of those on-use options, pairing it with a passive option like the one linked below is ideal. One exception to this is Empyreal Ordnance which can be utilized before a ramp then paired with your PvP badge to have a massive intellect boost to your Spirit Shell once every 3 minutes. Linked below are some other solid options that you can look for when gearing.
- Cabalist's Hymnal - Super solid stats and very high ilvl.
- Unbound Changeling - Really the easy trinket that you want to focus on acquiring early. It drops from the Mists dungeon and is easy to acquire. The secondary stats it provides will change based on what stat food that you eat.
- Sinful Gladiator's Insignia of Alacrity - Strong trinket optionfrom pvp.
- Manabound Mirror - Decent healing and very high ilvl from Sire Denathrius
- Darkmoon Deck: Repose - Decent darkmoon deck trinket that is generally easy to acquire early on before raid.
Slots to Prioritize in the Great Vault
If you checked the Castle Nathria loot list above, there are a great many of haste-heavy items that feature very high item level from Sire Denathrius and Stone Legion Generals. Outside of those excellent pieces, there are a couple slots that have poor itemization and you can use PvP or the Great Vault to fill in those gaps. In general you would want to pursue your biggest slot upgrade but when facing many equal item level options you can opt for slots that are not easily replaced, like those not featured off the final two bosses.
Primary slots to aim for improving from the Great Vault would be:
- Neck
- Wrists
- Gloves
- Boots
Weapons
Currently, there is no major difference between selecting a Main Hand + an Off Hand versus a Staff for Priest. There is potential for Leech/Avoidance/Speed procs on multiple items but generally, you'll want to focus on maximizing item level/spell power gains. When it comes to weapons from the raid. Stone Legion and Sire Denathrius drop their highest respective item level tokens and as a result should be the focus for which tokens to prioritize.
Sire's token will allow you to instantly get the highest item level staff Sinbearer's Absolution Staff which should be your focus.
